ZEPHYRHILLS – The Zephyrhills Bulldogs walked-off with a win Tuesday night thanks to a 7th inning single by Dylan Wood that scored Jaydon Bishop for the victory over rival Pasco.
A scoreless pitcher dual for the opening four innings between the Pirates Bryce Braxton and Zephyrhills lefty Jaydon Bishop, ended in the top of the fifth when an error by Bulldogs first baseman Ricky Dunn scored Pasco’s Emilio Villa for the game’s opening score.
After a single by Joe Mortella in the bottom of the sixth, Braxton was lifted in favor of Pirates reliever Cody Dawson with Braxton remaining in the game. Dawson finished off the inning after Mortella was caught stealing along with a strikeout by Dunn and a Andrew Krzanak ground out to shortstop Brandon Mills.
Bulldogs closer Austin Green, in for Bishop, struck out Jose Garcia and Kenneth Graham before popping up Austin Forelli to end the Pirates seventh.
The bottom of the inning started with a hit batter when Dawson hit Chase Compton to put the tying run on first. Tyreese Wigfall advanced Compton to second on a fielder’s choice, before Dawson walked Bishop putting the winning run on base.
Still down 1-0 Zephyrhills Zach Schneidmiller singled to left scoring Compton and advancing the runners to second and third. Braxton returned to the mound to face Wood who singled to left scoring Bishop for the walk-off win.
