TAMPA – The Sickles Griffons hosted a pre-season softball warm-up tournament from February 13th thru 15th at Sickles high school. The Wiregrass Ranch Bulls began the tournament with a 6-2 win over Gaither on opening night.

Tuesday’s contest was headed by Hailey Vazquez who delivered a 2 run, 12 strikeout performance over the seven innings. The Lady Bulls bats were led by Miranda Perez. Lexi Gaiefsky and Madison Montelongo each with doubles. Perez’s two 2-base efforts resulted in 1 RBI and Gaiefsky and Montelongo each knocked in 2 runs with their efforts.

Friday, Wiregrass Ranch was paired with host Sickles in the early game. Trailing 3-0 early, the Bulls exploded in the fourth inning scoring five runs to take the lead 6-3. The offensive outburst was led by Perez again with 2 RBI’s and Ashtin Jordan with a two-base gapper that plated another pair of runs for Wiregrass Ranch.

The Griffons gave it one more shot in the seventh scoring a run to close within 3, then loaded the bases with two outs before relief pitcher Lexi Gaiefsky finally got Ally Hulme to ground out after a grueling 13-pitch at bat to end the game.

Sickles will open the regular season by hosting Jefferson on Tuesday after the holiday and the Bulls return home to the ranch to face the Land O’ Lakes Gators that same night.
