ZEPHYRHILLS – The Centennial Cyclones 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams traveled south to face the neighboring Stewart Bulldogs in two exciting Middle School volleyball contest Monday night.
The evening began with the seventh-grade (JV) girls who had to take it to overtime to decide a winner. Stewart had won the first set for the lead, but the Cyclones returned the favor in set two to tie things up. The tiebreaker played to 15 points went to a rallying Centennial team to open the night with a Cyclone victory.
Game two, the 8th grade (varsity) girls took the court in just about a carbon copy of their younger counterparts. Game one again went to Stewart 25-17.
The second set started out all Bulldogs again. Jumping to a 12-6 advantage, but the Cyclones were not throwing in the towel quite yet. A seven-point run tied the game at 12 and it was back-and-forth to 16 points each. The Cyclones produced another rally that would end the game 25-16 and tie the match.
Once again, tied at 2 sets each the match went in to a 15-point tiebreaker. This time the Bulldogs started with the lead and never looked back, taking the final set 15-10 to win the match.
