HUDSON— The Cypress Creek Coyotes showed their offensive strength in topping the Fivay Falcons 17-0 in just three innings Friday night.
Avery Lee and Mandy Schwartz combined pitching efforts for the Fivay shutout with Lee getting the win and Schwartz closing out the game on a ground out by the Falcons Caroline Helmsin in the bottom of the third inning.
Neely Peterson was the offensive spark for Cypress Creek, driving in 4 runs in just 3 at bats. Peterson began the night with a Homer in the top of the first scoring Emma Coon and Jasmine Jackson and ended with a blooper single in the third for the Coyote’s 16th run.
Jackson was the other Coyote with two hits contributing 3 runs to the Cypress Creek total with a single in the 2nd and a 3-RBI double in the third that put Cypress Creek over the 15-run “mercy rule” requirement.
Schwartz made it official in the bottom of the inning with strike outs of Courtney Gifford and Kailey Jameson, and the game ending comebacker ground-out by Helmsin.
