NEW PORT RICHEY – Number One seed Fivay captured the FHSAA 6A, District 8 title Thursday by defeating River Ridge in three straight sets 25-19, 25-18, 25-15 at Gulf High School.

The Falcons, who have been dominant in their district with a 7-0 district record, were led by seniors Lenora Naumann who had 9 kills on the night, and Torrie Berryhill who collected 7. Classmate Selena Belcher added 4 service aces to aid in the 3-0 Falcon win.

Both teams will advance to the Regional quarter-finals with Fivay (13-12, 7-0) earning home court against neighboring district 7 runner-up Weeki Wachee (18-7, 10-2), and the Royal Knights visiting district 7 champs the favored Nature Coast Sharks who were 24-1 overall this season with a perfect 10-0 district mark.

Both matches will take place next Wednesday on the home courts of the district champs from each respective district, with the winners advancing to the regional semi-final October 30th.
