LAND O’ LAKES — The Sunlake Seahawks (2-1) kept a tighter offense, earning a 17-0 win at home against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats (1-2).

The Wildcats attempted some strong plays but fizzled under the Sunlake defense. The Wildcats fumbled a QB sneak at the start of the second quarter, giving possession to Sunlake for a first-and-goal setup. Wide receiver John Leslie completed a 4-yard rushing TD in response.

Though Wesley Chapel had a scoring opportunity after a strong drive, Sunlake blocked the field goal attempt. Seahawks 10-0 over Wildcats at the end of the half.

The Wildcats’ bad luck persisted into the second half. They were positioned fourth-and-goal during the third when Sunlake intercepted the ball at the goal line. The Seahawks later blocked another field goal attempt by Wesley Chapel.

The fourth came to a close as Sunlake intercepted again, allowing John Leslie to rush for another TD. Final score: 17-0, Sunlake Seahawks.

Sunlake will play away at East Lake Eagles (1-2) in Tarpon Springs next Friday. Wesley Chapel will play another home game against the Zephyrhills Bulldogs (0-3).
