DADE CITY – The Pasco Pirates (15-7, 8-2) showed their offensive power early in the 10-5 decision over Wiregrass Ranch.

After a two-run start by the Bulls, the Pirates brought the long ball thanks to Luby Fieldes and Garrett Hester with back-to-back home runs and a balk by Bull’s pitcher Paul Sustachek that scored Liam Wynne to give Pasco a 4-2 Advantage.

A hit batsman led to a Wiregrass score in the second to tighten the sore to 4-3 but the Pirates would respond with two more in the bottom of the frame taking it to a 6-3 Pasco advantage.

The Bulls came back in the fifth with a round-tripper by Cam Douglass that closed it to 7-4 before Reese Lee punched a double to left in the bottom of the frame scoring Fields, Hester and Zach Murphy for a 10-4 Pasco lead.

The Bulls managed one in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to stop the surging Pirates who have now won seven-in-a-row and captured the top spot in FHSAA 6A, District 7.

Both teams have non-divisional match-ups prior to District playoffs but it appears as if the Pirates are on the right track heading into District playoffs that will begin April 30th.
