LAND O’ LAKES – The Sunlake Seahawks showed their number one status Tuesday night by handily eliminating the Clearwater Tornadoes 11-3.

After a scoreless Tornadoes first inning the Seahawks managed just one modest run on a sacrifice fly by Riley Baxter in the bottom of the inning. It was the second inning that opened the game up for Sunlake. With one out Paige Maseda and Jenna Gabrilli both singled. Two Clearwater errors later Emma Sica doubled driving in two runs. Baxter followed with a singles driving in another run taking the score to 6-1 Seahawks after two innings.

With the score 9-0 going into the sixth Clearwater found some offense thanks to three rare Sunlake errors and hits by Haley Patton and Ashlee Klinefelter scoring three for the Tornadoes bringing the score to 9-3.

Maseda added an RBI in the top of the seventh for a 10-3 Seahawk lead and that would close out the scoring for the game.

Clearwater finished the season with a record of 10 – 11 and notched a District Playoff win against Northeast in the quarterfinals. Sunlake is now 23-1 and will head to the 7A District 10 final against Mitchell (17-8, 9-4) Thursday night.
