ZEPHYRHILLS – Both the Sunlake Seahawk boys and girls took home the championship trophy from the FHSAA Class 2A, Region 5 tournament held at Silverado Golf and Country Club Monday.

The top two boys and girls teams from each of the eight regions in Florida advance to the State Championship tournament. This year it is being held at the Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida on November 2nd and 3rd. The top two individual scores of golfers who are not on qualifying teams also advance to the tournament.

Team scores are comprised of the 4 lowest 18-hole totals from the five-member teams. Eight schools qualified thru their respective District tournaments for the Regional Competition.

The Boys
The Boys Division went to Sunlake with a total score of 322. Zephyrhills finished with 333, followed closely by Pasco with 343. The remaining scores for the boys were; Mitchell 360, River Ridge 367, Springstead 380, Central-401 and Hernando-404.

The Girls Division also went to Sunlake with a total score of 386. Nature Coast qualified second with 396.
